NORTH CANTON, OH--(Marketwired - October 03, 2014) - StoneKap, LLC has started production on Rotor DR1, a community collaborated episodic series where the audience helps make decisions and shape the story. StoneKap's goal with this project is to create new media entertainment that involves interactive engagement, combining high quality production value and cinematic know-how with the incorporation of audience feedback into the content itself.

Chad Kapper, President of StoneKap and Director/Executive Producer for Rotor DR1, is dedicated to giving the audience an unprecedented level of influence over the elements in the story.

"The idea behind new media is that it gets people involved in the process," said Kapper. "Ordinarily, we'd start with a story and let that guide us through production. But for Rotor DR1, we're doing it backwards. This project started with an interest in drones, then characters began to evolve and our global virtual community began to bring the story to life. The amazing thing about this audience participation model is that everything is constantly being shaped by our worldwide interactive community throughout the creative process."

This community-based process is not without challenges. Compared to traditional productions, the audience participation model is much more in flux, with the story being written as production happens. Kapper realizes that this aspect is particularly challenging when there is contradictory audience input.

"We're figuring out the community input process as we go, but we always look for commonalities in the feedback and gain insight through that. This helps us ensure that the input we use is the collective opinion of our global community," Kapper said.

Through its dedicated website, forum and Facebook/Twitter pages, Rotor DR1 has been using feedback from the community to name characters, decide plot points, choose props and cast actors. The voiceover script for the Rotor DR1 concept trailer was even inspired by a community member.

"We've been blown away by the creativity in our virtual community," Kapper said. "That's the great thing about community collaborated entertainment. It allows us to bring all that creativity into the content, with the audience shaping each and every episode. Our global community's input will continue to mold the story and characters throughout the series, and we're excited beyond words to tell this story together."

Due to the increasing popularity of the audience participation, the series has gained interest from Hollywood actor Bruno Gunn. He will be appearing throughout the series. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0320234/

Rotor DR1 takes place in the not-too-distant future after a worldwide viral pandemic. There is no government, the world's population has been decimated and the sky is full of autonomous drones. The story follows a 16-year-old boy trying to survive in this world, who sets out to find his father, joined by his drone companion. How the story unfolds and the characters develop is up to the global virtual community. View trailer at http://www.rotordr1.com/trailer/.

The first episode of Rotor DR1 will be released on October 6. To learn more about Rotor DR1, visit www.rotordr1.com and www.facebook.com/rotordr1.
