Strictly Come Dancing pro Karen Hauer's husband Jordan Wyn-Jones has confirmed that they have separated.

The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony last summer, however Wyn-Jones has now revealed to the Mail on Sunday that he and Hauer have gone their separate ways.

While Hauer is yet to comment publicly about the split, Wyn-Jones claimed he had struggled with the dancer's extensive Strictly commitments but stressed that the pair would "remain friends" despite the separation.

"It's a bit of a love story, a sad story. I'm incredibly sad not to be in Karen's life, and not be on this journey with her but we're not right for each other in terms of her career. I will always admire her for her career but it took her away from me a lot," he said.

Hauer is currently the longest serving professional on the BBC One dancing show having joined the series in 2012, partnering with broadcaster Jeremy Vine, Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing and, most recently, Eddie Kadi.

Wyn-Jones added that while he had admired the professional dancer's dedication to her career, he had realised they "different things" in regards to having children together.

"Karen's dedicated to her career, which she has worked really hard for. She's amazing and I admire her for it. That's one of the reasons I wanted to marry her – because of how powerful she is," he continued.

"If we'd stayed together and we didn't have a family, I felt I would have ended up resenting her. This is the perfect moment for us to love each other and leave each other."

However, Wyn-Jones stressed that there was "nothing to fight over" and that he and Hauer would "remain friends."

"We are going to remain friends," he said. "When we talk, we still say 'I love you'. We're just not right for each other."
