Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Thomas has spoken about his connection with partner Luba Mushtuk following their exit from the show.

The pair became the sixth couple to be eliminated from the series on Sunday (November 5), after losing in the dance-off to Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington.

Their final dance was an emotional Rumba, with judge Anton Du Beke noting that the pair shared a special connection during their dances – and the pair have now explained their bond on It Takes Two.

“It’s the Strictly curse – it’s really brought us together,” joked Adam, who has appeared on Emmerdale and Waterloo Road. “I’m going to miss Luba. She’s taught me so much and we’ve created this friendship for life. I’m very grateful to have had this experience.”

“It’s bittersweet,” he added about his elimination. “The Rumba was one of those dances that I wanted to do, but probably not the best dance to do off the back of a dance-off. I enjoyed it and I thought we did a fantastic job – we can leave with our heads held high.

“This was my wedding song and my first dance, but my last dance on Strictly – I’m happy that it was this song and the dance that we left on. I knew going up against Angela we were going to be in trouble – she’s amazing.”

Luba, who joined the show in 2018, also spoke of their final dance and partnership as a whole, revealing that Adam’s workload often meant that they had little time in the rehearsal studio.

“I’m so proud. The dance was focused on the connection between us,” she said. “In the Rumba, if the girl looks good, it means that the boy leads her well. The fact that he managed that means he did a fantastic job – it was beautiful and I will never forget it.

“I’m very impressed that Adam could not only learn a new dance every week, but juggle it with another job. Some days we only had two days of practice, but for him to go out there on Saturday and deliver that dance is magic – it’s a miracle.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
