Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden has broken her silence after being confirmed for the 2024 pro line-up.

During last year's series, the Welsh choreographer had to take a break from the ballroom due to a breast cancer diagnosis, but always maintained that her aim was to return as soon as possible.

She's now secured a spot on the professionals team for the upcoming series alongside Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima and Nikita Kuzmin (among others) – Dowden has celebrated the news on Instagram.

"The best team on and off the dance floor. I can't wait to be back doing what I love most in the world, dancing! Feel blessed and more excited than EVER. Bring it on!

Reigning Glitterball champion Vito Coppola, who won with Ellie Leach, was quick to respond in the comment section, telling Dowden how much the whole of Strictly had missed her.

"We love you and I am sure I can speak for all us when I say that it was not same without you. Let's gooooo and let's start danciiiiing," he shared.

Meanwhile, the show's co-host Claudia Winkleman posted four red heart emojis, followed by fellow pro Buswell's message that read: "So happy to have you [where] you belong."

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
