Strictly's Bill Bailey debuts "unbelievable" hair transformation

Strictly Come Dancing winner Bill Bailey has unveiled a dramatic summer hair transformation.

Usually seen with long hair, the comedian posted a shot of his newly-shaved head on to Instagram yesterday (June 27).

"Had a bit of a trim for the summer," he wrote as the caption.

Bailey's fresh look caused quite a stir with his friends and followers, as his Strictly pro dance partner Oti Mabuse replied: "I still cannot believe this!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE".

The Vicar of Dibley's Dawn French went on to comment: "May I just say.... PHWOAR!" to which Bailey responded: "May I say why thank you ma'am!"

Bel-Air star Jimmy Akingbola added: "Love this Bill! Definitely giving dont F&$k! With me vibes," and Bailey replied: "Ha! Thanks Jimmy!"

"I have never been so shook by a hair cut. Suits you, but also now questioning my entire existence. Who even am I without Bill Bailey's long hair," one follower wrote.

"Your hair truly was a cornerstone of British light entertainment," another remarked, "but short hair really suits you!!"

Meanwhile, others described his change as "the end of an era". Numerous followers also made references to an episode of Black Books where Bailey's character Manny briefly moves to a competitor's bookstore and team leader Evan (played by Simon Pegg) threatens to shave off his hair.

Reflecting on his Strictly triumph in 2020 will never leave him, Bailey explained that fans still associate him with the show several years later.

"I walk down the street and sometimes, someone will clock me as I go past, and they just go, 'Dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnn', and I have to turn and go, 'Dun dun dun dun dun'. It's just like a little call and response thing'," he revealed, referring to the Strictly theme tune.

He added that he still incorporates dancing into his live shows, because the skills he learned on the show "never leave you".

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
