Strictly pro dancer Diane Buswell has revealed her partner Bobby Brazier managed to lead in a complicated dance move during their last performance.

The couple danced a salsa to '(I've Had) the Time of My Life' from Dirty Dancing for Musicals Week. And while the iconic lift originally performed by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey didn't go quite as planned, Diane explained Bobby performed a move called "the pretzel" on his own.

"There was a lot of technique, it wasn't an easy ride. We worked really, really hard to get all of those steps," Diane said on It Takes Two.

"So I feel, that if any girl came up to you now, you'd know how to do that pretzel on your own!" she continued, referring to a spin involving passing one's arms over and behind their partner's head.

"Because he really did — and Shirley mentioned this too — lead me through that dance and that's a really neat skill. I'm so proud of him, because he's literally leading me around!"

The EastEnders star joked he's not quite ready yet to try that with a non-professional dancer, saying to Diane: "But you're a professional dancer, not my mate's mum at a wedding," and adding: "But I can't wait to try it!"

Following their performance, for which they received 34 points from the judges, Diane took to Instagram to share her disappointment at not having managed to fully perform the lift.

"Gutted the LIFT didn't go to plan like it had in most rehearsals," she wrote in the caption of a post.

"But I do have to say we took a risk and didn't play it safe," she added.

"That dance was hard and so iconic that of course there was pressure to do it justice and the feeling of just not quite getting it was a bit low for us."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
