Strictly Come Dancing professional Graziano Di Prima has opened up about his close friendship with Rylan Clark.

Rylan previously had a connection to the star-studded BBC dance competition as he hosted Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two alongside Janette Manrara.

However, Graziano has since revealed he previously tried to convince the TV presenter to join the main show.

Detailing his bond with Rylan, Graziano suggested they could compete together in a same-sex pairing on Strictly.

"We are very, very good friends," he told The Sun. "I said to him last year, 'Why don’t you do Strictly on the line-up? You can dance with me'. He was like, 'Oh, that is the only reason I’d join the show'."

However, it seems Rylan’s links to the hit celebrity dance show have now come to an end as he recently announced his exit from It Takes Two.

"It’s sad about Rylan," Graziano confessed, addressing the presenting star’s departure.

Announcing his exit back in April, Rylan tweeted: "After 4 fantastic years it’s time for me to hang up my glittery jacket and say goodbye to It Takes Two.

"I’ve had the best time hosting the show alongside Janette and Zoe [Ball] and I can’t thank the amazing team enough for always putting on a great show."

A new presenter for Strictly: It Takes Two is yet to be announced, but Rylan is already lined-up for a new BBC project.

It was recently revealed Rylan will be hosting a new podcast series called How to Be a Man.

The series, which is set to debut on BBC Sounds on May 9 and BBC Radio 4 on May 18, will see Rylan explore the "fault lines of modern masculinity".

Guests set to appear on the podcast include Strictly’s 2022 winner Hamza Yassin, Taskmaster star Phil Wang, and trans activist Freddy McConnell.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
