Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton faced an unexpected on-air intruder while presenting the TV show Christmas on the Farm.

During Wednesday's (December 20) episode, Helen and co-host Jules Hudson presented live from inside an alpaca pen at Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorkshire, and the duo were forced to improvise after one of the animals got a little too close.

Helen and Jules could be seen giggling as Jules introduced various upcoming segments from the show before Helen became uncomfortable after an alpaca began to "hustle" her.

"It is really hard to enjoy when you are being hustled by an alpaca! Calm down, Stanley!" she said in an attempt to get the animal to move aside.

The on-air interruption wasn't the only time the alpaca had caused chaos during the episode night, as Jules added that Stanley had been disrupting the crew throughout the evening.

"Now, the animals here are tucked up, happily munching on their hay, in here with us tonight. As indeed is Stanley the alpaca, [who is] very cheeky," Jules continued as the camera panned over to the alpaca sniffing a crew member.

"Trying to eat scripts, trying to eat the crew, looking for a Christmas present, maybe looking for a girlfriend," the presenter said with a laugh.

Meanwhile, the Channel 5 farming show won't be the only place fans will see Helen on their TV screens in the next few months. The presenter is set to host an upcoming documentary series in the Lake District next year.

Titled Lost and Found in the Lakes, the new 15-part BBC docuseries will see Helen lead a team of experts to look for precious and misplaced items across the World Heritage Site.

She'll be joined by divers, magnet fishers and detectorists as they attempt to reunite people with their lost items.
