Strictly Come Dancing winner and former EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis will return to TV in Code of Silence, an upcoming crime drama from ITV.

The six-part series is set to follow Ayling-Ellis' character, a deaf catering worker named Alison Woods, who is struggling to make ends meets while supporting her deaf mum, Julie.

However, Alison is plunged "into a new and exhilarating world" when she's asked to use her lip-reading skills to uncover the conversations of dangerous criminals.

Alison's interpretation of gang meetings "becomes key to unlocking the police investigation", but as she finds herself drawn to one of the main suspects, Liam, her feelings about the case begin to complicate.
