Following our first drive in Manila last month, the all-new Subaru WRX is now set to debut in Singapore, with local Subaru distributor Motor Image planning to unveil the car at a roadshow, which will be held from the 7th to 11th of May at Vivocity.

The new WRX, and high-performance WRX STI variant, has been completely redeveloped from the ground up, and shares little with their respective predecessors. Powering the WRX is a new 2.0-litre flat-four Boxer engine that produces 268bhp and 350Nm of torque. This enables it to go from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds, and hit a top speed of 240km/h. For now, local cars will be offered with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) only, although a manual version is available for the WRX in other markets.

The WRX STI, meanwhile, packs a more powerful 2.5-litre turbocharged flat-four boxer engine which produces 300bhp and 407Nm of torque. This gives it a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.2 seconds, and a top speed of 255km/h. Unlike the WRX, the STI is available only with a six-speed manual transmission, and it is for this reason that Motor Image expects the majority of sales to go to the WRX model.

At launch, the new Subaru WRX is tentatively priced at $187,400, including COE, while the WRX STI will retail for $207,400, inclusive of COE.
