‘Suits’ Falls Out Of Nielsen Top 10 Streaming List After 23 Weeks; ‘Young Sheldon’ Takes Over As No. 1

After 23 weeks, Suits was finally ousted from the Nielsen Top 10.

Though the legal drama racked up another 682M viewing minutes from November 27 to December 3, that wasn’t enough to be among the ten most-watched streaming titles in the week after Thanksgiving. However, it did manage to remain on the acquired title list at No. 6.

This marks the first time since June that Suits hasn’t claimed a spot on the Top 10, since eight of nine seasons landed on Netflix. Suits dominated the list the entire summer, but as audiences began to reach the end of their binge — and other anticipated titles like Virgin River and Fall of the House of Usher racked up impressive viewership — the series saw its No. 1 throne slipping away.

Young Sheldon took first place on the overall list during this measurement period, up from fourth place the week prior. The comedy series saw a resurgence after being the most recent addition to Netflix from the Max library. In a 92% jump in viewing, Young Sheldon managed 1.8B viewing minutes.

This likely means that Young Sheldon will stick around in the Top 10 for a while longer, though Nielsen points out that the entire duration of the program is less than half of Suits, so its reign is likely to be shorter simply because audiences can make their way through the series faster.

Nielsen also says the audience for Young Sheldon is quite young, with only 20% of viewers 50+.

Squid Game: The Challenge remained in second place for another week, this time clocking in 1.4B viewing minutes, which is pretty much the same as the week prior. That’s thanks to four new episodes that were released on November 29.

No other titles managed over 1B minutes this week, with third place going to Bluey and the animated Netflix film Leo taking fourth. Grey’s Anatomy rounded out the Top 5, continuing its curious revival on Netflix.

Prime Video made it onto the list at No. 7 with the new Eddie Murphy film Candy Cane Lane, which lit up the chart with 804M viewing minutes.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves also made an appearance on the Nielsen originals list with the release of Episode 6. With 257M minutes, it made it to No. 9, marking only the second time the series has appeared. The other interval was the week after it premiered, when it took No. 10.
