Suki Waterhouse Reflects on a Sleazy Romance in the Striking Video for New Single 'OMG': Watch!

The singer-songwriter released the first single off her forthcoming sophomore album on Thursday

“OMG” — Suki Waterhouse fans have an exciting year ahead of them!

On Thursday, the singer-songwriter, 32, dropped the single “OMG” and its striking music video — kickstarting the release of her untitled but forthcoming sophomore album that’s due out later this year.

The new pop-rock track, which is full of ‘90s-tinged guitars and an exuberant, sticky-sweet chorus, finds the indie star reflecting on a sordid romance and searching for the person she was before succumbing to the toxicity of their affair.

Its accompanying visual, directed by Waterhouse’s frequent collaborator Émilie Richard-Froozan, blossoms with just as much feeling.

In the music video, it’s as if the singer/model portrays a cabaret starlet or an Old Hollywood icon in mourning. Along with a pair of dancers, she traipses around a greenhouse that’s lush with dahlias, roses and more florals in bloom — bursting into choreography and eventually breaking a vase, as if trying to shake off the painful memories of what once was.

By the end of the visual, as the Daisy Jones & the Six actress' hair is down in curls and she dons a red dress (accentuating her pregnant belly), it’s as if there’s a sense of relief — and she’s allowed herself to go back to the way that she was, as the lyrics plead.

“Oh my God / Take me back the way that I was / Oh my God / You know I only tried to play your games / So you cannot forget my name / You and I, and I've been saying / You always had it easy,” Waterhouse sings on the track, which she co-wrote with Natalie Findlay.

The video comes one week after the “Good Looking” singer teased it on Instagram with a fun clip of her cracking an egg that was made to look like it had a slip of paper with the release date inside.

Several days later, she continued to promote the upcoming release by sharing a brief snippet of the audio over a video featuring multiples of herself sitting in a regal-looking theater.

The “Moves” artist previously released the Milk Teeth EP in 2022 and a series of singles last year, but “OMG” marks the first track off the full-length follow-up to her 2022 debut I Can’t Let Go. According to a release, the new project will be out on Sub Pop sometime later this year.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Waterhouse revealed that the “concept” of the new LP is “metamorphosis” and the British indie rock group Arctic Monkeys served as a major sonic inspiration.

“OMG” comes a little over a month after the musician released a holiday cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” for charity. Upon the single’s release, she told PEOPLE that she’s “been living in the studio essentially” and teased her upcoming project.

The pop-rock star said, "Writing is so cathartic for me — I can't wait to share more soon!"

Beyond her new music, 2024 should be a big year for the performer, who is currently expecting her first child with fiancé Robert Pattinson. During a November appearance at Corona Capital Festival in Mexico, Waterhouse confirmed she was pregnant while performing by sweetly joking about how she wore sparkles to distract the crowd “from something else that’s going on.”

Several weeks after the singer-songwriter confirmed she and the actor, 37, were getting ready to welcome their first born, a film source told PEOPLE that the pair was “thrilled beyond words.

"[Pattinson] and Suki are very serious and have been. A baby coming is an absolute joy for them," the source shared.

Another insider added, "They are ready for a child, and looking forward to becoming parents. Even though they are both professionals who work a great deal, this is something they want."
