Sunny Chan returns to TVB for new drama

25 Aug – Hong Kong actor Sunny Chan has revealed that he would be returning to shoot a new drama for TVB after a year-long absence from television screens.

According to Jayne Stars, Chan would be appearing in TVB's Republican-era drama "Records of the Fifth Day Opening" that would begin shooting this September. Sonija Kwok, who is making her return since delivering her first child in May, and Raymond Wong would be his co-stars.

"I need to get back to work because I ran out of money! Haha!" said Chan, who took a year break from acting to take care of his autistic son that is entering primary school this year.

While his long absence from TVB dramas has been felt by fans and this would only be a temporary comeback for Chan, who maintains that his son still remains as his top priority.

"I will spend the next few months filming. After that's done, and I've earned enough to cover next year's living cost. I will take another long break," he added.

Since Chan had discovered that his five-year-old son was autistic one and a half years ago, he has been actively dotting on his child to overcome his learning barriers by teaching him English, Chinese and simple arithmetic.

"I want to have him know that learning can be really fun, which is why I will teach him different things every day. I consistently change our programs up to keep him interested. He has improved well. He improved a lot the past year, and I am very satisfied."
