Supernatural creator Eric Kripke has paid tribute to the show's star Nicki Aycox following her death.

Aycox, known to fans of the long-running series for playing the first incarnation of Meg Masters, passed away last week. She was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2020.

"Gutted to hear the great #NickiAycox, our first #MegMasters, passed away. Too young," Kripke shared on Twitter.

"She was a delight & delivered lines like honey & venom. I marvel at how she made a simple word like 'lackluster' legendary."

Supernatural fans joined the tributes, with one person sharing: "Meg was so deceptively & diabolically dangerous. Then when we saw the human Meg ghost in Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester she was so sweet & vulnerable. Nicki gave us all the flavors & it was exquisite to watch her perform."

Another wrote: "Loved her Meg so much. She was the first in a long line of badass women in the show and we'll miss her."

"I am so sorry; she was so wonderfully kind to fans at cons throughout the years," was another comment.

Aycox's sister-in-law shared the sad news on her Facebook page on November 17, writing: "My beautiful, smart, fierce, incredibly talented, and loving sister-in-law, Nicki Aycox Raab, passed away yesterday with my brother, Matt Raab, by her side."

"Nicki and Matt had a wonderful life together in California. She was definitely a fighter and everyone who knew her loved her," the post also read.

Aycox's film roles included horror sequel Jeepers Creepers 2 and thriller Perfect Stranger, opposite Halle Berry and Bruce Willis. On TV, she also appeared in Ally McBeal, Criminal Minds, Cold Case and war drama Over There.
