Support a furry good cause at the Jazz For Dogs 2019 Charity Concert this Sunday
SINGAPORE – Attention, dog lovers! Jazz For Dogs is back for a second time following its successful debut in 2017. Organised by Action for Singapore Dogs Society’s (ASD) and taking place on 18th August (Sunday), this year’s line-up promises to be bigger and better with some of the most talented jazz artistes in Singapore – Anne Weerapass, Carol Gomez, Lily Hargrove, Rob Collins, Skye Sirena, Aaron Lee’s Jazz Quartet, the MGS Guitar Ensemble and The Raindogs. You can expect a relaxing evening with your paw pals having a picnic at the Singapore Botanic Gardens and bonding over good food and music.
Jazz For Dogs was first held in 2017 and attracted an audience of over 1,800 people and at least 300 dogs. This year, ASD hopes to beat its previous record by aiming to have an attendance of 2,000 people and 400 dogs at the concert.
The event aims to raise S$100,000 to support its Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage efforts to reduce stray dog population and ensure that all dogs have a home and are well-loved. The 5-year nationwide TNRM programme was launched in November 2018 to humanely reduce the stray dog population. To date, close to 150 strays have been trapped and released or rehomed. The expenditure for each TNRM dog can amount to S$350 or more, mainly on transportation, trapping equipment, and medical treatment and boarding for sick or injured dogs.
