“Survivor 46” player wants to sneak 'tough titty' onto the show
The latest cast reveal the snazzy catchphrases they want to get onto primetime television.
Survivor players don’t just want to win the game, they want to be remembered. That could be for orchestrating a massive blindside, flipping the script with an idol or advantage, or, in the case of David Jelinksy, having everything go wrong all at the same time.
But players are also remembered for their words and what they say. With that in mind, we asked the entire cast of Survivor 46 before the season began to think about their personal branding and come up with a catchphrase they would try to work into the show at some point — or, you know, many points.
And we are proud to report that two of the contestants already managed to do that in the very first episode! When we asked Soda Thompson two days before the game began what her catchphrase would be, she knew right off the bat. “My Sodar senses are tingling,” she told EW. “They always are. And that's a real thing I say.” And she then went and said it in the premiere episode when Randen Montalvo came to her with concerns about Venus Vafa.
But Soda wasn’t the only player to bust out their catchphrase in the premiere. “I got a few,” said Ben before the game. “But I keep thinking: Obviously I'm going to play as hard as I can to be Sole Survivor, but if I can be the Sole Sur-vibe-r, that would be dope.” Judging by how often we heard about “sur-vibe-ing” during the first episode, he may be well on his way.
However, there is one catchphrase you may not be hearing on TV, and it comes courtesy of Jess Chong. “There's one that's not safe for life," she explains. “I don't think I'm allowed to say it, but I probably will, and it's tough titty.”
Hey, you’re allowed to say it here, Jess! We didn’t even dash it out or anything! While “tough titty” may not make it on the family-friendly CBS, Jess is going to do her darndest to give producers fits editing around it. Plus, it may not be any better than her other catchphrase option: “It's a f---ing game.”
It should be duly noted that Jess is not the only potty mouth in the cast. Watch the video below to see which other player wants to get a little blue with her catchphrase. Also learn who wants to quote Shakespeare, who plans incorporate R&B song titles into their everyday speak, and who intends to pay tribute to Claire Rafson’s best Survivor catchphrase to never actually make it to air. We also want to give a special shout-out to Liz Wilcox, who, thanks to our challenge, has made it her mission to say the phrase “Idols, advantages, got 'em shakin’ in their pantages.” May her mission be successful.
