SZA Brings Her Hit 'Kill Bill' to Life in Murderous Medley Performance at 2024 Grammys

The nine-time 2024 Grammy nominee performed the track, and her hit "Snooze," during the Sunday show

SZA lead the pack at the 66th annual Grammy Awards in nominations on Sunday, and she kept the celebration going with a detailed performance of two of her biggest smashes.

During the awards ceremony, the 34-year-old musician sang her Grammy-nominated hits "Snooze” and “Kill Bill” from her two-time nominated album SOS.

After an intro about the meaning behind her No. 1 LP, the Top Dawg Entertainment singer hit the stage in a leather trench coat as she sang her two songs, both of which were nominated on their own, for the crowd at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

For the performance, SZA was surrounded by flames, trash cans and stage lights as she opened with "Snooze," before launching into "Kill Bill" after pushing off a dancer on stage. "Kill Bill" then saw SZA tap into some choreography alongside dancers holding swords — and even singing amid an on-stage fight sequence.

The singer was up for a total of nine awards at this year's ceremony, the most nominations of a single artist. For “Kill Bill,” she’s nominated for song of the year, best R&B performance and record of the year. Those come alongside nominations for best pop duo/group performance with Phoebe Bridgers for “Ghost in the Machine," "Love Language" for best traditional R&B performance, "Snooze” for best R&B song and “Low” for best melodic rap performance.

Her sophomore album SOS — which spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — is up for both progressive R&B album and album of the year.

The “Good Days” singer’s 2024 nods take her total career Grammy nominations to 24, with just two studio albums under her belt. The decorated musician won in 2022 for best pop duo/group performance, which she and Doja Cat clinched for the track “Kiss Me More.”

In November 2023, the R&B superstar appeared on Variety’s Hitmaker of the Year issue and opened up about the making of her three-time nominated SOS track.

The Grammy nominee shared that she wrote the song in just an hour and was initially hesitant because of how some listeners might have reacted.

She wasn’t quite as certain about the hyperbolic words about getting back at an ex that poured out of her. “I hated it,” she told the outlet, before reportedly clarifying, “Well, I didn’t hate it. But I was like, ‘Can I say this? Is it silly?’ [My co-producer] Rob [Bisel] was like, ‘You have to say it!’ ”

Other performers for Grammys night include the singer’s former collaborator Travis Scott, along with Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, U2 as well as a duet from Luke Combs and Tracy Chapman.

Christina Aguilera, Lenny Kravitz, Lionel Richie, Mark Ronson, Maluma, Meryl Streep, Samara Joy, Taylor Tomlinson and Oprah Winfrey are set to present.
