Tajikistan amends constitution to extend Rakhmon's rule

ALMATY (Reuters) - Tajikistan has amended its constitution in a referendum, allowing President Imomali Rakhmon to run for an unlimited number of terms, the Central Election Commission said on Monday, citing preliminary results of Sunday's vote. The legal reform won support of 94.5 percent of voters, commission chairman Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda told reporters, adding that turnout was 92 percent.
