Talon drop kpii and Hyde from Dota 2 roster after TI11
Southeast Asia org Talon Esports announced on Thursday (3 Nov) that they would be parting ways with Australian Damien "kpii" Chok and Indonesian Brizio "Hyde" Budiana.
The offlane duo helped Talon through the gauntlet that was the Southeast Asia regional qualifiers, giving them direct entry to The International 11's Group Stage and avoiding the Last Chance Qualifiers.
Today we are parting ways with our veteran @kpiidota and gigachad @hydedota2
To our OG offlane duo, thank you for being key parts of our run from OQs to TI. You both brought such great energy and will always be part of the Talon fam.
Best of luck on what's next!#SOARWITHTALON pic.twitter.com/hHjsmT6ooF— TALON (@Talon_esports) November 3, 2022
However, after being favourites in the regional qualifiers, the team failed to make it to the Main Event.
They finished 17th-18th place after going 6-12 in the Group Stage, the poorest showing among Southeast Asia's TI representatives.
Kpii and Hyde were original members of Talon Esports' first Dota 2 roster when it launched in November 2021, which included Israeli Dota 2 veteran Tal "Fly" Aizik.
However, despite the fanfare of having a player like Fly on the team, they failed to make their mark at the DPC SEA Winter Tour, leading to Fly's departure and Talon spending another tour in Division 2.
On their return to Division 1, Talon qualified for the PGL Arlington Major, which led many to mark them as clear favourites for the regional qualifiers.
