Taskmaster airs past contestant Easter egg for new task
Taskmaster season 16 spoilers follow.
Taskmaster has brought back two-time winner Josh Widdicombe in an unexpected capacity for a brand new challenge.
Tonight's (September 28) episode saw this season's contestants — Julian Clary, Lucy Beaumont, Sam Campbell, Sue Perkins and Susan Wokoma — trying their hand at an epic mission straight from the Arthurian legend.
For the show's first task, Greg Davies and Alex Horne invited the comedians to pull an Excalibur replica from a stone. As usual with Taskmaster, there was an elaborate catch — and that's when Josh came unwittingly into play.

The taskers were given a series of convoluted clues relating to the show's past winners, including a series of photo portraits and a map of Devon.
All signs pointed to Josh, whose picture was not included. His last name (similar to Devon's Widecombe-in-the-Moor) was revealed to be the one word that would've let the players extract the blade breezily.
Some had a hard time piecing the clues together, with Sue taking a whopping 33 minutes to realise 'Widdicombe' was the word, while Lucy insisted Josh's surname was Witticombe instead.

Susan, who admitted to being "quite good with a sword" due to her drama school training, completed the task seamlessly, leading the race from there.
But Taskmaster confirmed itself to be unpredictable as the following tasks turned the tables, seeing the Enola Holmes star and the former Bake Off host tying with 19 points.
Greg and Alex had just the perfect tie-break, asking them to repeat the number of Pi to the most decimal places after one quick glance at it. Sue smashed this very final task, remembering ten decimals out of 39 and winning the episode.
Taskmaster series 16 airs and streams on Thursday nights at 9pm on Channel 4, where you can also stream previous series.
