Taskmaster star Lucy Beaumont made a hilarious mistake as she incredibly mistook a legendary artist for a fashion consultant.

One of tonight’s (October 12) tasks saw the group - Beaumont, Sue Perkins, Julian Clary, Susan Wokoma, Sam Campbell - recreate a famous artwork by drawing on 100 table cards and combining them.

The contestants, with the exception of Beaumont, elected to plan their artwork in advance by drawing first, but Beaumont had a more relaxed approach as she drew by delving into her own “sub-conscious.”

Her intention was to recreate Sunflowers, the iconic series from legendary Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, but the comedian hilariously revealed in the studio that she confused herself by mistaking the painter for fashion consultant and television presenter Gok Wan.

“Well they’re very similar men,” remarked co-host Greg Davies, with Beaumont revealing further that she began to think of poppies instead of sunflowers, leaving the audience in hysterics as they prepared to view her work.

As the drawing was shown on the big screen, Davies quipped that the supposed flowers looked more like chickens, with Beaumont joking: “It looks like the vase has been dropped - it’s an explosive vase.”

The other recreations went far more successfully, though Perkins did admit that her version of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa saw the subject possess hands that resembled “E.T.” Clary and Wokoma were inspired by Damien Hirst and Mark Rothko respectively, with Campbell garnering top points for his recreation of Edvard Munch’s The Scream.

Elsewhere in the episode, which was won overall by Perkins, the group were tasked with cooking a sausage for co-host Alex Horne, with the ingredients ranging from apple slices to edible pants; other challenges included a game of dice and a complicated trial involving shouting, buckets, envelopes and cereal.

Taskmaster series 16 airs and streams on Thursday nights at 9pm on Channel 4, where you can also stream previous series.
