Taylor Swift-obsessed “Survivor” player to Jake Gyllenhaal: 'Don't come near me'

Taylor Swift-obsessed “Survivor” player to Jake Gyllenhaal: 'Don't come near me'

Battle lines both on and off the island have been drawn.

Charlie Davis is obsessed. Flat-out obsessed. But you might not be able to judge what Charlie is obsessed with just by looking at him. After all, the 26-year-old law student from Boston — and member of the Survivor 46 cast — seems like a pretty normal dude.

But you can take that perception and shake it off right now, because the future legal eagle is completely fearless in announcing that he has a love story with a certain recording artist. “I'm a massive Taylor Swift fan,” Charlie reveals. I'm a huge, huge Swiftie.”

Not only is Charlie completely enchanted with the most powerful — and some might say gorgeous — woman on planet Earth, but the Survivor contestant is not out of the woods when it comes to being preoccupied with every aspect of the pop icon’s life, and that has resulted in a little bad blood between the reality show contestant and a Hollywood A-lister in what could be shaping up to be the great war.

We here at EW learned that fact all too well forever & always when Charlie did something bad and explained the depth of his T. Swift love. “Every single song,” proclaimed the fan. “Every single album, all the lore, all the ex-boyfriends we're supposed to hate.” And then, look what the fandom made him do: “Jake Gyllenhaal — don't come near me.”

This shocking statement left a temporary blank space in our pre-game interview out in Fiji. And while we resisted the urge to tell Charlie, “You need to calm down,” the question now became whether the man who was about to compete for a million dollars was being mean, or was, in fact, innocent. Either way, we knew he was trouble.

And in that moment, everything had changed. Because even though it is abundantly clear that Swift and Gyllenhaal are never ever getting back together, the fact that Charlie is clearly wishing bad karma on the star of such cinematic classics as Ambulance, Jiminy Glick in Lalawood, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time shows that perhaps he does have the ruthless streak necessary to come out on top in a cutthroat game for a million dollars.

Either way, Charlie just wants everyone to know that he really, really loves T. Swift. “I'm just a huge Taylor Swift fan,” he reiterates. “It's really fun. I love her music. That usually catches people by surprise.”

Of course, Charlie’s revelation is just one of many, as we asked the entire cast of Survivor 46 to tell us what makes them different from everyone else, and you can watch all of their answers in the video below. Who had their home raided by the FBI? Who barely even had a home? And which contestant admits to basically being a “cartoon character”? Watch the video for all the answers, and then tune into the two-hour Survivor 46 premiere Feb. 28 on CBS. Your reputation depends on it.
