  • Lady Gaga shut down pregnancy rumors on TikTok by quoting Taylor Swift's song "Down Bad."

  • Swift quickly came to Gaga's defense: "It's invasive & irresponsible to comment on a woman's body."

  • "Gaga doesn't owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman," Swift wrote in her comment.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are teaming up to squash "invasive" and "irresponsible" speculation about women's bodies.

Their alliance was ignited when Gaga shut down pregnancy rumors on Wednesday. Paparazzi shots from her sister's wedding had begun circulating online, with tabloids like The Sun and The Daily Mail claiming Gaga "displayed a bump" at the event. The photos fueled speculation that Gaga was expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Michael Polansky.

In response, Gaga shared a video of herself on TikTok, lip-synching to a popular audio clip from @notpennyproud: "I don't have to find my aesthetic. I am the aesthetic."

In the caption, Gaga wrote, "not pregnant — just down bad cryin at the gym," quoting Swift's song "Down Bad" from her latest album "The Tortured Poets Department." (Gaga also encouraged fans to register to vote in her post.)

Just a few hours later, Swift came to Gaga's defense in the comments section.

"Can we all agree that it's invasive & irresponsible to comment on a woman's body," Swift wrote. "Gaga doesn't owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman."

Swift has also been the subject of body-shaming and undue scrutiny of her weight. In the 2020 documentary "Miss Americana," Swift opened up about avoiding paparazzi photos during her eating disorder recovery.

"It's not good for me to see pictures of myself every day," she said in the doc. "I tend to get triggered by something, whether it's a picture of me where I feel like I looked like, my tummy was too big, or someone said that I looked pregnant or something, and that'll just trigger me to starve a little bit. Just stop eating."

"There's always some standard of beauty you aren't meeting," Swift added. "It's all just fucking impossible."

Years later, Gaga praised Swift's confession after seeing a clip of the scene on TikTok.

"That's really brave everything you said. Wow," she commented, adding a black heart emoji. (Gaga revealed her own struggle with anorexia and bulimia back in 2012.)

For her part, Swift is a longtime admirer of Gaga's work, especially her 2013 single "Applause," which is a permanent fixture on The Eras Tour pre-show playlist.
