Saudi Arabia-based esports organisation Team Falcons announced their entry into the Dota 2 esports scene on Sunday (12 November) with a star-studded lineup headed by former Tundra Esports carry player Oliver "skiter" Lepko, star free agent offlaner Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaft, and former Shopify Rebellion position 4 support Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen.

Rounding out the lineup is another former Tundra player in Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun as well as free agent midlaner Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak. Former Jordanian pro player Mohammad "AfrOmoush" Abu Al Eis has also been listed as the team's manager.

Over the past few months, Falcons have been aggressively expanding their esports operations into multiple titles, including Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2, by signing as many top players as they can.

Such an approach seems to have been successful in Dota 2, where they managed to snag some of the most coveted free agents this offseason.

Skiter and Sneyking, known for their pivotal roles in Tundra's run to the championship in The International (TI) 2022, recently left Tundra following their disappointing 13th-16th place finish at TI 2023.

Cr1t also recently left Shopify Rebellion after just under a year with the organisation and over eight years with the premier North American Dota 2 stack alongside the likes of Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, Abed "Abed" Yusop, and Tal "Fly" Aizik. Shopify Rebellion also finished TI 2023 in 13th-16th place.

Meanwhile, ATF and Malr1ne are former teammates from the renown Creepwave stack of 2021 that were seen as the two of the biggest free agents this offseason.

ATF started the 2023 season with Nigma Galaxy before getting loaned to Quest Esports in May. He helped Quest grow into one of the best teams in Western Europe and finish fourth in the Bali Major.

ATF left Quest due to a contract dispute in July, just before the TI 2023 regional qualifiers.

Malr1ne last played for Nemiga Gaming in Eastern Europe from May 2022 and his departure from the team was announced earlier this month. Many considered Malr1ne to be the next up-and-coming midlaner for the next season, commanding interest from many top organisations until Falcons signed him.

Falcons' new Dota 2 roster is set to make its debut later this month in the qualifiers of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, which will be the last big Dota 2 tournament of the year in December and features a US$1 million prize pool.

It is unclear if Falcons will be playing in the Western European qualifier, where the majority of its players have been playing in, or in the MENA qualifier, where the organisation itself is based in.
