Team Liquid sweep Virtus.pro in LCQ to become the last team to qualify for TI11

Western Europe's Team Liquid is the last team to qualify for The International 11 (TI11) after they soundly swept Eastern Europe's Virtus.pro (VP), 2-0, in the lower bracket finals of the tournament's Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) on Wednesday (10 October).

Liquid dominated the LCQ Group Stage, taking the first seed of Group B with a 8-2 record and securing an upper bracket berth in the Playoffs as one of the favourites to claim a spot in TI11. VP also got to the upper bracket from Group B, taking the third seed with a 5-5 record.

Both Liquid and VP won their upper bracket quarterfinals matchups against Polaris Esports and Vici Gaming, respectively, to meet in the upper bracket semifinals. Despite winning a hard-fought game one, Liquid lost their first Playoff series against VP, 1-2, and got knocked down to the lower bracket.

VP got swept by Team Secret in the upper bracket finals and were dropped to the lower bracket finals, where the last spot in TI11 will be up for grabs. Liquid then earned their rematch with VP by knocking out Chinese hopefuls Xtreme Gaming and Vici Gaming.

Liquid came out swinging to start the series, taking an easy 30-minute victory with a 30-13 kill lead. The Western European squad didn't let up in game two, stomping their opponents once again in a 32-minute rout and finishing with a 31-13 kill lead.

With their victory, Liquid joins Team Secret as two teams to earn their spot in TI11 through the LCQ. It also cements Western Europe's place as the strongest region in Dota 2, as it now has a total of six representatives in this year's world championship tournament.

Aside from Secret and Liquid coming from the LCQ, OG, Tundra Esports, and Gaimin Gladiators were directly invited while Entity won the Western European regional qualifier.

The TI11 LCQ took place from 8 to 12 October and featured the 12 runners-up from the regional qualifiers fighting for the last two spots in the Group Stage. The LCQ began with a single round-robin Group Stage from 8 to 9 October and was followed by a double-elimination Playoffs from 10 to 12 October.

There will be a two-day break before TI11 officially kicks off on Saturday (15 October). TI11 will begin with a Group Stage from 15 to 18 October, where 20 teams will fight to become among the 16 squads to advance to the Main Event.

TI11's Main Event will be a double-elimination bracket and is split into two phases, the first being held from 20 to 23 October while the second will take place from 29 to 30 October.

TI11 will be hosted in Singapore from 8 to 30 October and features a revamped format with the new LCQ and a longer schedule. For everything you need to know about TI11, check here.
