Team Newbee: Banana replaces ZSMJ

It has been less than a month since Team Newbee was formed, but that hasn’t stopped them from undergoing a roster change. A recent post on the team’s Weibo account announced Jiao ‘Banana’ Wang as an addition to its new roster. Here is the English translation of the post via onGamers.net:

Through friendly negotiation with iG, former iG Dota player Banana has officially transferred to Newbee eSports Club. This transfer has been conducted in accordance with D.ACE’s Transfer Regulations, in a constructive atmosphere, under the wishes of the players involved, and has concluded successfully.

If this lineup looks familiar to you, that’s because this is basically the same TongFu roster that competed in The International 2013 (TI3), with the exception of Zhang ‘xiao8’ Ning. This isn’t an entirely bad idea, since the team placed fourth overall and was the highest-placed Chinese team in the tournament.

Team Newbee has often been referred to as the ‘Chinese Dream Team’, formed in the wake of the second post-TI3 Chinese reshuffle. However, Newbee suffered an elimination at the hands of the newly-formed Team CIS, which debuted in the Sina Cup Season 3 Supernova Dota 2 Open.

Team Newbee is currently competing with this new roster in the Starladder Chinese league, where they won their first matches against Tongfu.Wanzhou and LGD cn. They will compete with other Chinese teams including high-tier teams such as Team DK, Invictus Gaming, and Vici Gaming.
