SINGAPORE — An alleged row between a teenager and a hawker at Sengkang is being investigated by the police.

The police were alerted to a case of voluntarily causing hurt at Block 455 Sengkang West Avenue at around 5.50pm on Sunday, according to a report by Stomp.

A 17-year-old was taken to hospital while conscious and a 51-year-old man is assisting with police investigations, the report added.

A video of the incident shows that a hawker is preparing food while a man is standing in front of a stall, with a youth wearing a black t-shirt standing behind the man.

The hawker and the youth appear to be quarrelling. The youth can be seen throwing a tray in the direction of the hawker and in the process, a ladle and a plate land in a metal pot containing soup. The hawker is then seen grabbing hold of the ladle and appears to be hitting the youth.

In the next part of the video, the hawker is seen being confronted by several persons – it is unclear how the latter group is related to the youth. One woman can be seen gesturing at the hawker. She can be heard speaking in Hokkien and demanding to see the “manager” immediately and that she intends to call the police.
