Tennis Stars Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas Are Back Together After Split

It’s a game, set, and love match for Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The tennis stars just announced that they're back together and playing in the French Open together as a mixed doubles team.

The two players began dating last year, but announced their split in early May. Stefanos, 25, told Greek media ahead of the tournament in Paris that he was the one who broke things off. "I was feeling the pressure of the tour, of my work. It seemed like a mountain to combine these two, and I made the decision to take a break,” he said, via Tennis.com.

But after a few weeks, the world's No. 9 tennis player realized he couldn’t be without Paula, 26. "I realized that she is a person who has supported me a lot, and when she tried to talk to me about meeting, I felt how intense the love we have for each other is," he added. "I realized that this relationship I have with Paula is completely different from any other relationship I have had in the past."

May 2023: Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas first begin talking in Rome.

The two first connected in May 2023 during the Italian Open, Stefanos shared months later during the US Open in New York City. And apparently, there was more than money or fame on the line during Paula's second-round match against Ons Jabeur.

"I made a bet with myself," Stefanos explained. "I said, 'I'll send Badosa a message if she wins her second round match in Rome,' and she was playing very well. So I thought, 'Hey, I have a good chance of achieving that today.'"

She won the match, Stefanos sent her a congratulatory message, and the rest was history.

June 2023: Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas confirm their relationship and begin joint Instagram account.

Paula and Stefanos actually turned to an unexpected social media app to hard-launch their relationship: Spotify. In June 2023, the couple made a shared playlist and changed their profile pictures to snaps of the two of them, per Express UK. Naturally, fans noticed, and the rumors began to swirl.

After effectively setting tennis X (formerly Twitter) on fire, the two later had some fun. "Waiting for the Spotify bonus after that…" Paula wrote on June 7, 2023, tagging the app's Spanish account. Stefanos quickly followed up: "Ok, so we’re going regional on this? @SpotifyGreece"

Later that month, the two confirmed they were dating with a sweet snap on their respective IG Stories. They also created a joint Instagram page for photos of the relationship—entitled @tsitsidosa, a combination of their names—which has since been taken down. Their bio, per People, was “Best friends & soulmates. Nothing less; nothing more. 💚 ”

On the account, the couple also loved to share photos of their travels and words of encouragement to one other before big matches.

In August (per People), Paula created a birthday slideshow for Stefanos, writing, "I feel so lucky to share life next to you. Keep shining, keep inspiring, keep being you. Love you ❤️."

Sept. 2023: Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas delete all photos from their joint Instagram account.

In September 2023, the couple purged the joint Instagram account of all photos, sparking breakup rumors. But the duo later explained that they simply had too many eyes on them.

"It’s not easy when we started a relationship being so public," Paula wrote in a May 5 IG Story explaining their breakup, according to People. "We have a great relationship between us. He’s a great guy and I wish him the best. I know that it’s the same on his side."

May 2024: Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas “amicably part ways.”

On May 5, Paula took to social media to announce that they had broken up.

"We have shared a journey filled with love and learning, and it is as friends with immense mutual respect that we now choose to move forward on our own paths," she wrote in an IG Story, per Daily Mail. "As we transition into this new chapter of our lives, we continue to wish each other nothing but the best in all our endeavors."

However, in a later IG Story explaining the split, Paula left the door open for a potential rekindling, adding, "I know we’ll keep seeing each other on tour, and you never know what will happen in the future."

May 2024: Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas get back together and enter the French Open as a mixed doubles team.

The split was short-lived. Just weeks later, the couple announced they were back together and playing together as a mixed doubles team in France.

"I feel that she is my person and we understand each other; that puts more value in everything I do and I want her by my side as often as possible," Stefanos explained during a press conference ahead of the tournament. "So yes, we've reconnected and we're in a good moment."

Paula later confirmed that they'd gotten back together, telling reporters on May 25 (per Tennis.com), "The relationship is working very well now. He already explained. I have nothing else to say."
