TGI Fridays Just Launched a Brand-New Appetizer Menu
Don't panic, loaded potato skins are still on the menu.

Sometimes, the most irresistible items on a casual restaurant’s menu are the appetizers. A table full of plates of mozzarella sticks, potato skins, nachos, chicken fingers, and perhaps roasted Brussels sprouts (to say you had some veggies), shared by everyone at the table is a real treat.
When you think of the best chains to create a meal like that, TGI Fridays must come to mind. It’s often credited with inventing loaded potato skins in the 1970s, crispy potato halves with most of the pulp scooped out, then filled with cheese and bacon. But, just like the origin of Buffalo wings, the origin of potato skins is contested, with two other contemporaries of TGI Fridays laying claim—Washington D.C.’s The Prime Rib and Chicago’s R.J. Grunts.
Regardless of where they originated, most of us associate loaded potato skins with TGI Fridays since they’ve been a staple on the chain’s menu for decades while other appetizers have come and gone.
TGI Fridays just announced there are new appetizers coming to the restaurant, but rest assured those famous loaded potato skins aren’t going anywhere.
TGI Fridays’ New Appetizers
To keep up with competition from other casual restaurants like Applebee’s and Olive Garden, TGI Fridays often shakes up its menu. Its most recent shake-up adds more bold, in-demand flavors to its menu. Its reimagined appetizers will be alongside standards like potato skins and wings, including a seasoned Margarita Shrimp Cocktail tossed with diced avocado, flavorful pico de gallo, diced fresh mango, and served with tortilla chips; Truffle Tot-chos with truffle aioli, Parmesan-Romano, and parsley with a side of dipping sauce; and Loaded Pablano Queso with topped with fresh pico de gallo, mixed cheeses, house-made guacamole, and served with tortilla chips.
The prices of the 18 appetizers on its revamped menu start at an incredibly budget-friendly $3.79.
Other New Menu Items at TGI Fridays
New salads and a new Chicken Al Pastor Bowl are now on the menu. And the restaurant is joining the no-alcohol party with the addition of Athletic Brewing Company’s non-alcoholic craft beer to its menu.
With these new offerings, it does seem like the restaurant is working to keep up with the changing tastes of its consumers, while also making sure to “not fix what ain’t broke” to keep its long-term customers happy.
