Singapore – The 11.11 Global Shopping Festival, which culminates on 11 November, taps a global supply chain to meet the growing demand of Chinese consumers for new brands and new products. Coined by online giant Alibaba, 11.11 or ‘Single’s Day’ began in 2009 with participation from just 27 merchants as an event for merchants and consumers to raise awareness about the value of online shopping. Last year, more than 180,000 brands and merchants participated in the event, with consumers spending RMB213.5 billion (S$41billion) during the 24-hour period.
Today, we see retailers, ranging from beauty, furniture to high-end designer brands, jumping on the bandwagon for a market share of the e-commerce sales.

Shopee has kicked off its largest-ever shopping event - Shopee 11.11 Big Sale 2019 in Southeast Asia and Taiwan this month. Their campaign began on 22 October and will lead up to 11 November with deals across dining, travel, women’s fashion, men’s fashion, appliances and more.
