Thousands Evacuated as Wind-Driven Wildfire Burns in California's Riverside County

Fire crews in Riverside County, California, continued efforts to contain a wind-driven fire in the area on Wednesday, November 1, that forced evacuations and threatened multiple structures.

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the Highland fire began around 12.45 pm in Aguanga on Monday.

In an update On Wednesday morning, CAL FIRE said the fire’s growth was minimal and containment increased to 15 percent, but windy conditions were expected to remain in the area until Thursday.

Footage captured by Diane Sieker shows smoke and windy conditions in Aguanga on Monday. Sieker was at Blue Diamond Horseshoe, a horse breeding farm in the area, where horses were seen running through the smoke. All horses were safely evacuated, Sieker told Storyful.
