Tim Allen's Disney+ series The Santa Clauses has confirmed its release date for season 2.

The show, which debuted its first season last year, is based on the classic holiday season movie series, and sees the actor reprise his role as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus.

It has now been confirmed that season 2 will premiere on November 8, debuting two episodes before the season runs until December 6.

The Santa Clauses follows Allen's Santa as he tries to find a suitable replacement while planning his retirement, and in the second season, "the Calvin family is back at the North Pole, as Scott continues his role as Santa Claus after his retirement plans were thwarted.

"Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his focus towards training his son Cal (Austin Kane) to eventually take over the ‘family business'," the synopsis adds.

New additions for season 2 include 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan as the Easter bunny, Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet as Magnus Antas, aka The Mad Santa, and Coco's Gabriel Iglesias as Kris 'Kringle' Moreno.

Back in the fold are regulars Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs Claus/Carol, Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra Calvin Claus, Austin Kane as Cal Calvin Claus, Devin Bright as Noel, and Matilda Lawler as Santa's chief of staff, elf Betty.

The second season renewal was announced just in time for Christmas last year, Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis saying at the time: “This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions.

“Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I’m grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season."

The Santa Clauses season 2 will premiere on November 8 on Disney+.
