A Timeline of Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra's Hollywood Love Story

They first met at a Vanity Fair Oscars party, and later went to the Met Gala together before officially dating.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have a whirlwind romance for the ages. Despite first interacting in 2016 — in which Jonas slid into his future wife’s DMs — the pair didn’t actually meet in person until 2017. Even then, they weren’t “official” until 2018. However, after just two months of dating, the couple got engaged in July before tying the knot mere months later in December. While their 10-year age gap initially worried Chopra, who is ten years Jonas’ senior, she revealed to Hoda Kotb on TODAY, after their first date, “I realized my husband is just like an old soul. He’s stability in human form.”

Since tying the knot, the heartthrob singer — one-third of the iconic Jonas Brothers boy band dynasty — and his uber-talented actress wife have gone on to welcome a baby girl into their family, and their love only seems to grow stronger with age. From their first red carpet appearance to the birth of their baby girl, to the present day, here’s a complete look at the couple’s relationship timeline.

September 2016: Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra First Connect.

Nick Jonas initially won his future wife over by sliding into her DMs — a true modern-day love story, if you ask us! Jonas initially reached out after watching Chopra’s show, Quantico, writing, “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.” From there, Chopra gave him her phone number, and the two entered into a texting relationship.

In May 2023, Chopra appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she said, “The fact that he had the confidence to slide into my DMs and ask me out. I was like, what? I mean, people slide into my DMs, but no one has ever asked me…literally, like his message was, ‘I’ve been told we should meet.’ How cocky, so sexy.”

February 26, 2017: Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra Meet in Person for the First Time.

After flirting back and forth via text message for months, Jonas and Chopra met in person for the first time at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscars party. Here, Jonas actually got down on one knee in front of what he described as “a bunch of people.” Luckily, his moved work, and Chopra joined him for a drink; however, they didn’t see each other again until months later at the 2017 Met Gala, but more on that below.

May 1, 2017: Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra Attend the Met Gala Together

Jonas and Chopra were both invited to attend the Met Gala with Ralph Lauren, where they got to know each other even more. “We were both wearing Ralph Lauren! And we decided to go together because it was fun," Chopra later revealed on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

After, Chopra invited Jonas back to her apartment. “We hung out for a couple of hours,” Chopra told Vogue. “He patted my back before he left.” In the same interview, Chopra joked that she was disappointed Jonas didn’t kiss her; however, she said, “There was a back pat.” After their Met Gala “date,” Nick’s older brother, Joe Jonas, told Vogue, “I think she [Chopra] kind of knocked him off his feet. He was just this little puppy dog.”

May & June 2018: Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra Are Officially Dating.

While Chopra and Jonas did stay in touch after the Met Gala, their relationship didn’t start heating up until one year later. On Memorial Day Weekend in May 2018, the pair attended Beauty and the Beast Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl before spending the remainder of the holiday weekend together.

A month later, the two started publicly flirting on Instagram. After Chopra posted a snap of a recent trip to In-N-Out, Jonas commented, “That smile,” along with an adorable heart emoji. Chopra, meanwhile, returned the favor,  commenting, “Who is cuter?" on a video of Jonas with a koala bar.

In early June, Chopra went with Jonas to his cousin’s wedding, where the two were spotted walking arm-in-arm. They were also spotted enjoying dinner together in NYC. Later in the months, Jonas flew to India with Chopra to meet her mom. It’s safe to say things were getting serious — and quite quickly!

July 19, 2018: Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra Get Engaged.

After just two (!) months of officially dating, it was reported that Jonas proposed to his future wife on vacation in Crete, where the couple celebrated Chopra’s birthday, which falls on July 18. Jonas allegedly waited until midnight to pop the question so as not to take away from her special day. Her Tiffany & Co. sparkler, featuring a cushion-cut diamond flanked by tapered baguettes, is among the most stunning celebrity engagement rings.

August 2018: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Share Their Engagement News on Instagram and Celebrate With Family.

On August 18, 2018, Jonas took to Instagram to share an adorable selfie of him and Chopra — where she donned her gorgeous ring — with the caption, “Future Mrs. Jonas. My heart. My love.” That same month, the newly engaged couples celebrated their impending nuptials with an epic bash surrounded by their family and friends in Mumbai.

November 2018: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra obtain their marriage license and attend a Puja Ceremony.

License to wed? Check! Per The Blast, Jonas and Chopra obtained their marriage license in November 2018 upon filing paperwork together at the Beverly Hills courthouse. Additionally, the couple attended a puja ceremony at Chopra’s house in India that same month. This special Hindu prayer ritual celebrates a special event — such as, you guessed it, a wedding!

December 1, 2018: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra get married.

Just days after their puja ceremony, Jonas and Chopra tied the knot! The celebration took place at the lavish Umaid Bhawan Palace in Rajasthan, and Jonas’ dad officiated the Western ceremony. The following day, the couple hosted a special Hindu ceremony in homage to Chopra’s culture. The weekend-long soiree was documented on Instagram by Jonas and Chopra alike.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Chopra revealed, “I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up.” She then continued, “We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalized them in a way that made sense for us. It’s been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way.”

December 5, 2018: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra make their red carpet debut as a married couple

A few days following their wedding, Jonas and Chopra made their red carpet debut as newlyweds at a Bumble’s launch party in New Dehli. (Chopra invested in the dating app back in 2018.)

December 25, 2018: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra celebrate their first Christmas as a married couple

The 2018 holiday season was particularly special for Jonas and Chopra, as they celebrated their first Christmas together as husband and wife. The duo rung in the festivities with both of their families — including Chopra’s mother and brother, along with Jonas’ parents and brothers Frankie and Joe — in England. Chopra posted a photo of the smiling group by a glimmering Christmas tree, writing “love you family.”

February 2019: Priyanka Chopra appears in the Jonas Brothers' "Sucker" music video.

Just two months after saying “I do,” Chopra appeared in the music video for the newly reunited Jonas Brothers’ song, “Sucker.” Mrs. Nick Jonas can be spotted in the clip along with Kevin’s wife, Danielle, and Joe’s now ex-wife, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.

January 17, 2020: Priyanka Chopra appears in the Jonas Brothers' "What a Man Gotta Do" music video.

Chopra once again put her acting chops to good use by appearing in the Jonas Brothers’ “What a Man Gotta Do” music video, in which the duo recreated a scene from 1983’s Risky Business.

March 2021: Nick Jonas writes a handful of songs about Priyanka Chopra.

In March 2021, Jonas released a solo album, Spaceman. On an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer shared that “most of the songs are pretty much just love letters” to his wife. He told Fallon, "I sort of started writing this record back in July. My wife was over in Germany finishing up this little movie called The Matrix,” before adding, “And I was like, 'You know, I feel very disconnected from the world, first of all, and now my person.' And I just dug in writing ... within a couple of days I was like 'Oh, this is a solo album.' And a few days later I was like, 'This is a kind of themed album.'"

January 15, 2022: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcome their daughter.

Chopra and Jonas started 2022 on a high note when they announced the birth of their daughter, a baby girl named Malti Marie. They revealed the little one was born via surrogate and also asked for “privacy during this special time as we focus on our family.”

December 1, 2022: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary.

Both Chopra and Jonas took to Instagram to ring in their fourth wedding anniversary. Chopra posted a sweet photo of them dancing and wrote, “Find yourself a guy that reminds you everyday that you’re loved. Happy anniversary babe. ❤️” Jonas, meanwhile, shared two tender photos of the couple after their Western and Hindu ceremonies with the caption, “And just like that it’s been 4 years. ❤️ happy anniversary my love.”

January 25, 2023: Priyanka Chopra shares that she and Nick Jonas have matching tattoos.

The couple that shares ink together stays together, at least, according to Chopra and Jonas. In an interview with British Vogue, Chopra revealed that she and her husband have matching tattoos. “I have a check and a box behind my ears,” she said, before adding,  "My husband has them on his arms because when he proposed, he asked me, that I checked all his boxes, and would I check another one?"

January 30, 2023: Priyanka Chopra supports Nick Jonas at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

When the Jonas Brothers received their coveted star along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chopra stood proudly by her husband’s side. During his acceptance speech, Jonas shouted out his wife and baby daughter. “To my beautiful wife, you are the calm in the crazy, the rock in the storm, and I love being married to you. It is the greatest gift," he said, before adding, “I love being a parent with you. Malti Marie, I can't wait to come here with you in 15 years and embarrass you in front of your friends."

July 18, 2023: Nick Jonas celebrates Priyanka Chopra's 41st birthday

Jonas celebrated his wife’s 41st birthday by sharing a loved-up snap of the two of them on vacation, in which he wrote, “I love celebrating you. Happy birthday my love. ❤️🎉”

September 16, 2023: Priyanka Chopra celebrates Nick Jonas' 31st birthday.

To ring in Jonas’ birthday, Chopra shared a collage of photos of the couple and wrote a romantic caption: “Celebrating you is the greatest joy of my life. You have pushed me in ways I didn’t know was possible.. shown me peace like I have never known.. and loving like only you can.. I love you my birthday guy! I hope all your dreams always come true… Happy birthday baby ❤️🥰”
