Tom Brady didn't like how his Netflix roast affected his kids.

The 46-year-old father of three recently reflected on the Sunday, May 5, comedy special during an appearance on The Pivot Podcast's latest episode.

"I loved when the jokes were about me I thought they were so fun," said the retired NFL star. "I didn't like the way that affected my kids. So it's the hardest part about, like, the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way, and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn't do that again because of the way that affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world."

The former quarterback said he initially didn't see the "full picture" when agreeing to do the roast.

"I wanted to do the roast because the guy Jeff Ross became someone that I knew, and then you just don't see the full picture all the time. So I think it's a good lesson for me as a parent. I'm going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it, and at the same time, I'm happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun," he added.

Brady said that athletes "love laughing in the locker room," adding, "Let's do more of that and love each other and come on man, celebrate other people's success. That, to me, gives everyone a lot of hope."

The NFL legend is a father to son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11, with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. He is also a father to Jack, 16, with ex Bridget Moynahan.

The roast included various jokes that touched on Brady and Bündchen's October 2022 divorce and her relationship with Miami-based jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente.

Following the event, a source told PEOPLE that Bündchen, 43, was "deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening's roast show."

"As always, [Bündchen's] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted," the source added.
