Tom Hanks gushes over Cher, reveals he's a huge 'Mamma Mia 2' fan: 'Motion picture perfection'

Meanwhile, Cher is not a big fan of Cher.

Tom Hanks, Timothée Chalamet, and Julia Roberts are even bigger fans of Cher than, well, Cher.

While the four performers shared the couch on the latest star-studded episode of The Graham Norton Show, the pop diva shocked the audience — and her fellow guests — by admitting that she doesn’t really listen to her own music. “I’m not a big Cher fan,” the Grammy winner said. “So I don’t usually." As for her movies? “No,” she bluntly told Norton.

“Even a minute?” Roberts asked, stunned.

But before Cher could answer, Hanks interjected, shaking his head. “You’re missing out," he said. "You’re missing out. Motion picture perfection? Mamma Mia 2."

Getting more excited with every word, Hanks continued gushing, particularly over a memorable musical sequence in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

“Fernando,” Hanks said. “When she busts out 'Fernando,' the world stops. Suns clash with the stars. It's perfection!"

The lovefest continued with Chalamet shouting out, "Moonstruck!" Roberts then name-checked Silkwood before Hanks suggested abandoning the talk show altogether for a group outing.

"I think we should all go to the theater and watch Cher's movies right now," he said. Roberts agreed, exclaiming, "Let's have a Cher-a-thon!"

While the gang didn’t exit stage left, their time on Norton’s couch seemed like a real bonding experience. After the show, Roberts, Hanks, and Cher posed for backstage selfies, which Roberts’ stylist shared. In an Instagram video, Cher sneaks up to surprise Roberts, followed by Hanks joining them for a photo.

Though Chalamet didn't participate in the backstage festivities, he did get the chance to express how thrilled he was to hang with three veteran performers during the interview.

“My god, this whole talk show has been, like, a trip,” the Wonka star said. “I don’t know what’s going on. Tom’s talking about gravity, I’m out here with Cher and Julia Roberts.”

“Well, you’re in the big times now — get used to it,” Hanks joked, before pulling a wad of cash from his wallet and asking, “By the way, go get us some sandwiches, would you?"
