Tom Hardy addresses return for Peaky Blinders movie

Tom Hardy has addressed the possibility of a return to Peaky Blinders for the upcoming movie.

A big screen outing for the hit series was greenlit by Netflix earlier this month, with Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy set to return to the role of Tommy Shelby.

While further casting details are yet to be confirmed, Hardy – who played Alfie Solomons on the BBC show – has expressed keenness to come back for the film.

Speaking to Sky News, the actor shared hopes that his character would make an appearance, though was unsure if it would happen.

"100% Alfie will definitely make an appearance, but I don't know when… and I don't even know if he will, that's just me punting," he said.

The movie will be directed by Tom Harper, with series creator Steven Knight writing the screenplay, having teased earlier this year that he was putting the finishing touches on the script.

"I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen," Knight said earlier this month upon the movie announcement. "It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war."

"It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me," Murphy added. "It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans."

Harper noted that Peaky Blinders has "always been a story about family", adding it was "incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix".

The original series began in 2013, before concluding its six-season run in 2022.

Peaky Blinders is available to stream on BBC iPlayer and Netflix.
