Tom Sandoval has nothing but kind words for Rachel “Raquel” Leviss.

While attending the Vanderpump Rules season 11 premiere on Wednesday, Sandoval, 40, told PEOPLE he only wants the best for his ex.

“She obviously didn’t come back on the show,” Sandoval said of his lack of communication with Leviss. “I’m hoping she just moves on, you know. Finds her peace, and I’m wishing her the best.”

About a year ago, it was revealed that Sandoval and Leviss were having an affair amid his relationship with longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix. What followed was a media storm and public scrutiny against both Sandoval and Leviss.

The pair appeared to continue their connection for some time, taking comfort in each other while filming the heated season 10 reunion. However, both have since confirmed they are no longer on speaking terms.

Reflecting on the chaos that ensued with the viral affair, Sandoval continued, “It was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to face on such a regular basis. It was very, very challenging and very, very just emotional at times.”

“I think after everything, I just want people to remember I’m definitely not perfect,” he added. “But I am a human being. I’m not a character, you know? This isn’t the Cubs vs. Cardinals, and I’m not Negan from The Walking Dead. I’m myself whose putting myself out there along with the rest of cast mates. And this just happens to be a s--- time for me, because of what I’ve done.”
