Hard to imagine that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 has been out for over three years, and now it’s finally coming to Steam. While it was already available on PC, you’ll be able to get a copy through the Valve platform come October 3.

You can wishlist it right now

While the game’s actual Steam page still says it’s “coming soon,” the official Twitter page reveals the official release date. Given that we’re coming towards the end of September, this means the launch is less than a week away.

Developed by Blizzard Albany (formerly Vicarious Visions) – which also co-developed some of the Diablo games – Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a remaster of the first entries in the iconic skating series.

Released in September 2020 for PS4 and Xbox One – followed by PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports in March 2021 – the reimagining of the classic games was highly praised. It also won several awards, including Best Sports Game from Gamescom.

With vastly improved graphics and mechanics pulled from later installments in the original series, the remaster was like a shining beacon for the nearly-dead franchise. The Tony Hawk games were something of a staple for the PlayStation consoles back in the late 90s and early 2000s.

However, subsequent releases beyond the first four entries couldn’t match what made the games so special. Pro Skater 5 (released in 2015) was heavily criticized for its many bugs, all but signalling the death knell of the once-beloved series.

Fortunately, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 +2 was able to successfully bring the first two games into the modern industry while instilling a sense of nostalgia in many of its players.
