Buddha Lo's daughters are already seasoned horse racing fans.

The two-time Top Chef champion brought his twin girls Tatiana and Alina to the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 8 at the Saratoga Race Track in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The seven-month-old twins watched as racehorse Dornoch won the last run of the Triple Crown series.

Lo, who is a brand ambassador for Saratoga Spring Water, and his wife Rebekah Pedler took turns with each baby as they smiled and laughed at the horses who trotted by the Spa Veranda where the family took in the race. At one point, the girls even pet a friendly horse (with some help from dad!) and never uttered a cry despite the commotion.

"They're city girls," says Lo, who raises Tatiana and Alina in New York City where he and Pedler work as chefs.

During the four-day Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, Lo prepared a Belmont-themed VIP dinner on Friday, June 7. He incorporated clever nods to the sport, like with his dessert, a white carnation white chocolate cremeux with coconut cake, meringue, coconut jelly, and coconut snow. (The winning horse is draped in white carnations directly after the race.)

He also used some of the fresh spring water from Saratoga State Park in one of his dishes.

This is the the first year that the race was held in Saratoga while its usual venue, Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y., is under construction for the next two years.

The Saratoga Spring Water wagon

Saratoga Spring Water, which was founded in the town about 187 miles north of New York City, dropped water to restaurants during the festivities in a replica of the original delivery wagon used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The carriage once served water to guests like the Vanderbilts, the Whitneys, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Oscar Wilde and Susan B. Anthony.
