Year In Review 2016: Top Hindi Films of the Year

This was rather average year for mainstream Hindi films.

The ones we hoped would be blockbusters failed to set the cash registers ringing, while smaller projects left an indelible mark on viewers.

The Khans continued to rule the roost as Fan (Shah Rukh Khan), Sultan (Salman Khan) and Dangal (Aamir Khan) are still the biggest films of the year, while Akshay Kumar moved from strength to strength with two incredible portrayals in Airlift and Rustom.

Smaller films with solid plots also reiterated the point that there is no substitute for good writing. Here are my picks of the year in no particular order.
