Hollywood icon Anjelica Huston is set to star in a new, British-set murder mystery as BBC One sets its sights on adapting Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero.

First published in 1944, Christie’s story is a period piece mixing love triangles, relationship tension and a troubled detective as deaths in a British coastal town set suspicious fingers waving.

With murder mysteries all the rage at the moment, Christie’s work feels ripe for a reimagining — and that’s exactly what the BBC is cooking up.

Here’s everything we know about Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero so far.

Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero doesn’t have a release date yet but when it does, you’ll find it on BBC One and iPlayer.

With production currency underway in Bristol and the Devonshire coast, it’s likely we’ll get to see this three-part story hit our screens in late 2024 or early 2025.

There’s no trailer available for Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero. As soon as it surfaces, you’ll find it here.

Like any good murder mystery, Towards Zero features suspicious activity and a bunch of intriguing characters who are each doing their best to convince us they’re guilty.

Christie’s story takes us back to 1936 where we meet Nevile Strange, a famed British tennis star who is still reeling from a much-publicised divorce. With the dust yet to settle on the ordeal, Strange makes the unlikely decision to visit his aunt, Lady Tressilian, at her coastal estate home with his ex-wife Audrey and his new wife Kay in tow.

The choice makes for an awkward trip and when deaths start occurring, it’s up to a detective who’s lost his way to rekindle his case-cracking skills and figure out what’s really going on.

According to the show’s official synopsis, the show will introduce us to “a long-suffering lady’s companion, a mysterious gentleman’s valet, an exiled cousin with a grudge, a venerable family lawyer, an inquisitive orphan and a French con man,” with the show exploring “an explosive love triangle, a formidable matriarch and a house party of enemies.”

Sounds like a recipe for a mystery.

Academy Award-winning actor Huston leads the cast for the BBC’s adaptation of Towards Zero, starring as Lady Tressilian, the owner of the coastal estate at the centre of Christie’s story.

Huston will be joined by The Haunting of Bly Manor’s Oliver Jackson-Cohen who will star as tennis star Strange, with Ella Lily Hyland as his ex-wife Audrey and Mimi Keene playing his new wife Kay.

The show will also feature appearances from Motherland’s Jackie Clune, Rain Dogs star Jack Farthing, The Americans’ Mark Rhys and Black Mirror star Anjana Vasan, each in mystery roles.

Call The Midwife’s Grace Doherty, Mary & George’s Khalil Gharbia, Sherwood’s Adam Hugill and The Wire’s Clarke Peters will also star in as-yet-undisclosed roles.
