Level Infinite and Hotta Studio's new open-world RPG, Tower of Fantasy, will hit the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and PC internationally on 10 August.

The game can also be pre-loaded the day before the launch (9 August), and has already secured over three million people pre-registrations on the official website at the time of writing, and the number is set to increase.

Set in the distant future on a post-apocalyptic sci-fi planet called Aida, where humanity has settled after fleeing their dying world, the game is among several anime-styled gacha titles that have been gaining interest online.

Players in Tower of Fantasy take on the role of Wanderer, a Hagarde Enforcer with amnesia, who can pick between male and female forms at the start of the game.

Through what look to be thrilling battles and shared open-world exploration, Tower of Fantasy combines anime-inspired post-apocalyptic sci-fi art style with freeform character development.

Exploring the open world can also be done by riding motorcycles and other vehicles, including flying devices such as jetpacks.

Aside from climbing, gliding, and swimming, characters can perform additional physics-based actions.

Characters will also be fully customisable, and a gacha system will allow players to obtain pre-designed playable characters known as simulacra.

The aesthetic, character design and exploration of Tower of Fantasy has prompted some comparisons to HoYoverse's Genshin Impact and its upcoming rogue-like ARPG Zenless Zone Zero.

However, there are some significant differences between the two gacha games.

For starters, the gacha system in Tower of Fantasy is more about collecting weapons than characters.

Secondly, the characters tied to these weapons have storylines, but in general, they're just AI replicas of famous fighters who serve as optional skins for your main character.

In combat, your character's powers are determined by their three-weapon loadout, which is faster than Genshin's party-based, elemental approach.

There are also plans for a "shared world" RPG in Tower of Fantasy and large-scale world boss battles set to involve hundreds of participants.

Players can still pre-register until the launch on 10 August to earn some rewards like free resources, cosmetics, and more.
