The traffic police are asking members of the public for information on an SMRT taxi that travelled against the flow of traffic.

The incident apparently took place last Monday (12 September) at around noon along Sims Avenue East, and was captured on video by Facebook user George Teo. The clip was posted by road safety community page Beh Chia Lor - Singapore Road.

In the 15-second video, an SMRT taxi is seen driving against the flow of traffic on a one-way road, before veering into another lane. The clip has since been shared more than 1,000 times.

SMRT has reportedly taken disciplinary action against the driver.

According to traffic police, they are aware of the incident and are looking into the matter.

“We would like to request anyone with more information on the incident to lodge a police report at any Neighbourhood Police Centre/Post or online via the ‘E-FEEDBACK ON ROAD USERS’ portal at www.police.gov.sg/epc/index.html,” said a traffic police spokesman.
