A disruption along the Downtown Line (DTL) on Tuesday morning (3 May) affected train services between Bukit Panjang and Sixth Avenue MRT stations for half an hour.

According to SBS Transit, the disruption which began at about 11am was caused by a train fault involving a train’s emergency brake at the Beauty World Station.

“The train’s emergency brakes had been applied and could not be reset, preventing it from moving out of the station,” said the transport provider in a statement.

Engineers were deployed to remove the faulty train before service resumed at 11:10am. Commuters at certain stations along the six-station stretch experienced delays of up to 10 minutes. Free bus rides were made available during this period until full service resumed at 11:40am.

“We apologise to affected commuters for the inconvenience caused. Meanwhile, we are investigating the cause of the train fault,” they said.
