The Traitors UK contestant Maddy Smedley has announced she's pregnant.

Maddy shared the news on social media. Her Twitter post featured a selfie of her and her partner holding up the sonogram, and read: "Got some news, wanna scream it from the roof tops! Beyond excited to meet you. PS we're waving back x."

Maddy also shared a video on Instagram and TikTok that featured her mum and sisters' emotional reactions as she announced the news to them.

The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman was among those congratulating Maddy and her partner, as did series one's joint winner Aaron Evans.

"Congratulations Mummy Maddy," Wilf Webster, who was revealed as a Traitor in the show's dramatic finale, wrote, while Rayan Rachedi said: "Can't wait to point at the baby and go 'FAITHFUL'!"

And on TikTok, Meryl Williams, another of series one's joint winners, wrote: "Omg Maddy massive congratulations... so happy for you both."

Maddy's fellow contestants Theo Mayne, Kieran Tompsett, Claire Barratt, Fay Greaves, Tom Elderfield, Alex Gray and Imran Nasim have also shared messages of congratulations across Maddy's social posts.

In last year's debut series of The Traitors, Maddy became a standout 'Faithful' for emerging as the only player to question 'traitor' Wilfred Webster's allegiance – much to her co-stars' exasperation.

"I had a few bullet points for Wilf. I thought, the way he reacted to Claire leaving, he was a bit over dramatic," she said after the show.

"When I left, I didn't know if any of my theories were correct and I had changed my mind about Aaron but even with Wilf and Meryl, I didn't actually know… I felt a bit lost not knowing.

"It was like losing a court case if I was a solicitor or a police detective, I didn't get the answers and that was really tragic and I went home trying to explain the show to the care home residents and they were even more confused," she reflected.

The Traitors is available to catch up on via BBC iPlayer.
