Harry Kane will hold talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and head coach Ange Postecoglou when he reports for pre-season training next week, with the club still hoping to persuade the England captain to sign a massive new contract.

Spurs have offered Kane a new deal which would significantly increase his £200,000-a-week salary but he has no plans to sign it while the transfer window remains open.

The England captain has entered the final 12 months of a six-year contract and is a target for Bayern Munich, who have had an opening offer in the region of £60million rejected.

Kane, 30 this month, is open to leaving Spurs during the window or on a free transfer at the end of next season, but has not ruled out extending his contract with his boyhood club - even if this is currently considered the least likely scenario.

Shakhtar want Tottenham deal over Manor Solomon

Thursday 6 July 2023 09:11 , George Flood

Speaking of Spurs, it seems that Shakhtar Donetsk are still hoping to receive some form of compensation over Manor Solomon.

The Israel winger is due to undergo a medical at Tottenham this week after they beat former loan club Fulham to his permanent signing on Sunday, agreeing a long-term contract.

However, Shakhtar previously threatened legal action against Spurs or any other team that signed Solomon, who is under contract at the club until the end of 2023 but, just as he did last summer, is free to join another outfit thanks to the extension of FIFA’s ruling allowing players and coaches in war-torn Ukraine to suspend their deals in the country.

Tottenham have agreed to host Shakhtar in a charity friendly on August 6, with CEO Sergei Palkin hoping to come to an agreement over Solomon before that game.

 (Getty Images)
(Getty Images)

“Tottenham is an established, respected club with a big history and a huge number of fans around the globe,” he told The Athletic. “We are sure Tottenham executives understand that Shakhtar invested significant money in the Solomon transfer, investment that Ukrainian club’s in our difficult position, simply cannot afford to lose.

“We hope we will have a meeting with Tottenham representatives on the eve of our friendly match and in good faith we will find a solution to the Manor Solomon issue. The solution should satisfy both sides.”

Providing an update on his client to German outlet Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, agent Jose Fortes Rodriguez said: “We have to talk to VfL first. I think Tottenham would be a good move for Micky. But there is no agreement.”

However, the Gunners were also believed to be in the running for Lavia, who is expected to leave the Saints for a sizeable fee this summer after their relegation from the Premier League.

The Daily Mirror claim that Arsenal are still in for the ex-Manchester City youngster as they look to continue their spending spree.

However, it is said that any further deals are likely to depend on outgoings, with Thomas Partey, Kieran Tierney, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Rob Holding all possibly set to depart.

Arsenal ‘knocking on the door’ for Tchouameni

Thursday 6 July 2023 08:08 , George Flood

Arsenal may be “knocking on the door” for Aurelien Tchouameni.

The French international is the latest midfielder to be linked with a high-profile switch to north London as Mikel Arteta and Edu engineer a massive overhaul in that area.

Many have doubted that Arsenal could really tempt Tchouameni into swapping Real Madrid for the Emirates just one season after his blockbuster £85.3m move from Monaco.

However, former Gunners striker Kevin Campbell evidently believes it is possible.

“What would you say if the interest in Tchouameni is real?” he said on The Highbury Squad.

“I am asking the question. What would you say if it’s real? Potentially, they are knocking on the door.

“Arsenal have made a statement signing [in Declan Rice] already. But I want them to force it home with another marquee signing.”

Manchester United also remain locked in talks over Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Yesterday, the Red Devils made an opening bid for the Cameroon international worth £35m plus £4m in add-ons.

However, it seems that initial proposal falls some way short of Inter’s valuation of the player.

“Right now, Onana is Inter’s goalkeeper,” said Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio.

“He’s one of the strengths of the team and with strong players, we’d like to move forward.

“If opportunities arise, we’ll evaluate them, but to date, they haven’t arrived or they don’t meet our expectations.”

But further options are needed, with Portuguese transfer specialist Pedro Almeida reporting that Chelsea have now made the first contact with the agent of Dybala.

He says the Argentine striker, 29, has a clause in his current Roma contract that would allow him to join a foreign club for just £10.2m.

Timber backs to take White spot

Wednesday 5 July 2023 23:03 , Alex Young

Rio Ferdinand also spoke about incoming Arsenal signing Jurrien Timber, insisting he will take Gabriel Magalhaes' starting spot next season.

Timber can play at both centre-back and right-back, with Ben White's spot thought to be the most under threat, but Ferdinand believes it is Gabriel who can expect more time on the bench next season.

He said: "Manchester United were in for him before they got Lisandro Martinez. They didn’t manage to get that deal done but he was one of the players that was being earmarked by Erik ten Hag – who obviously fancies him as a player, rates him highly obviously, had him at Ajax.

"He’s quick, he can play, he’s good on the ball and he’ll be a good addition to their team. I think he’s an improvement on what they’ve got as well. I’d probably look at it and say Timber and William Saliba would play.
