TripZilla enters Malaysia with 69 travel agencies on board and over 3K travel packages
TripZilla, an online travel portal that offers the simplest way for users to find and book their travels, enters Malaysia with my.TripZilla.com.
Built and run by Travelogy Pte Ltd, TripZilla was launched in Singapore in November 2010. The travel portal aggregates prices, packages, itineraries and travel promotions across all major booking channels in a country. Having shown some encouraging results in terms of user traffic and sales, TripZilla hopes to scale the product to other countries in the region, starting with Malaysia.
Winnie Tan, co-founder and CEO of Travelogy said, “We started with the intent of just aggregating tour packages and itineraries from travel agencies. But over the last two years, the product has grown quickly and our vision now is to make TripZilla the first stop for anyone who is thinking of travelling. TripZilla offers curated, localized content that can save our users much time and money. For example, if a user performs a search for Taiwan on TripZilla, he will be able to find tour packages and itineraries, travel promotions and deals, or discounted airfares and hotels to Taiwan, all in one site.”
TripZilla’s Malaysian portal has been in the works since October 2012, and now has 69 Travel agencies on board with over 3,000 packages and itineraries. It is aggregating travel deals from 13 daily deals site, all low-cost carriers, major airlines, credit card companies and hotel chains.
We first heard about the Malaysia expansion news back in September last year when the team secured a S$250,000 (about US$200,000) in seed funding from Crystal Horse Investment. The co-founders shared that they will be moving into Malaysia then, and is eyeing the Filipino and Indonesian online travel markets.

“Technically, from the onset, TripZilla’s architecture was built such that it can easily be scaled to many other countries in the region. However, the team wanted to validate the product and ensure that we are profitable, before we took on regional expansion,” said Eric Koh, Cofounder and CTO of Travelogy. “As more businesses move their marketing dollars online, and more people perform their travel research and bookings via the web, we are confident that our market will keep growing.”
Currently, TripZilla sees over 150,000 visits and half a million pageviews per month. Hundreds of enquiries and transactions are made via the site daily, and user registrations are growing at more than 15 percent monthly.
