Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks Get Emotional Over Lainey Wilson's Opry Induction

Lainey Wilson is officially the newest member of the iconic Grand Ole Opry! The honor is well-deserved by the rising country music star, and more than a few country music icons played a part in Lainey's induction ceremony on June 7.

The "Heart Like A Truck" singer was joined on stage by Wynonna Judd and Terri Clark for her induction ceremony performances on the Opry grand stage in Nashville. Lainey even received a special video message from none other than Dolly Parton, which played during the ceremony.

Trisha Yearwood (1999 inductee) and Garth Brooks (1989 inductee) shared the honor of formally inducting Lainey Wilson as an official cast member of the Grand Ole Opry. "You get it. You know what it means to love country music. You love the Grand Ole Opry, and that's what it's all about," Trisha gushed. "When I think about the future of country music, I know with you in it, we're gonna be okay," she continued.

"I'm a little bit biased, but there can never be too many women at the Grand Ole Opry," Trisha added.

With Garth Brooks involved, the ceremony got emotional quickly. "I'm gonna cry 'cause I always cry," Garth began. "I'm so dang happy for the Grand Ole Opry. It's really rare you find somebody at your age that already gets it."

After the fact, Garth compared Lainey to country icon Reba McEntire on his podcast Inside Studio G. She's the first "woman, probably since Reba, that you look at and go, this woman is gonna be around for a long, long time," Garth says. "She's a current fad that's going to last 40 years."

Trisha concluded with the words that make this major milestone official: "On behalf of all the members of the Grand Ole Opry, past and present, welcome as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry, Lainey Wilson."

Lainey shared a video documenting Garth and Trisha's role in her induction to her TikTok account. "Everything about last night was magic ✨ Becoming an official member of this family is one of the highest honors I could ever receive. Thank you Garth & Trisha for the kind words ❤️," she wrote.

Fans jumped in to offer congratulations in the comments. "Congratulations Miss Lainey Wilson! An honor so deserved, all the hard work has paid off. 🥰🥰," "You just keep going Lainey! We love you and your music. Congratulations and much deserved ♥️" and "I've never seen someone more deserving than you Lainey," fans wrote.

As an official member of the Grand Ole Opry with the Garth and Trisha stamp of approval, there's no doubt Lainey Wilson will go down in country music history. Congratulations to the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry, Lainey Wilson!
