Trump called ‘sick’ and ‘clueless’ over veteran remarks in pro-Haley super PAC ad
A new ad from the pro-Haley super PAC SFA Fund Inc. asks whether former President Trump is “sick” or “clueless” for his comments on soldiers and veterans and his attacks against Haley’s deployed husband.
“Donald Trump did it again: This time, attacking Nikki Haley’s husband,” says the narrator in the 30-second ad, which calls out Trump for a “sick pattern” and points to reports of the former president calling fallen soldiers “suckers” and “losers.”
“Donald Trump: sick or clueless? It’s time to turn the page,” the video concludes. The ad will begin airing Wednesday in South Carolina.
Haley earlier this week lashed out at Trump over what she called “disgusting” comments questioning why her husband, who is serving overseas, isn’t with her on the campaign trail.
“What happened to her husband?” Trump asked at a recent South Carolina campaign event. “Where is he? He’s gone. He knew. He knew.”
Michael Haley was deployed to Africa last June with the South Carolina Army National Guard.
“Our service members, our veterans, and their families deserve a Commander-in-Chief who is not only proud of their service and sacrifice but is someone they can be proud of as well. Unfortunately, Donald Trump has failed on both counts,” SFA spokesperson Preya Samsundar said in a statement.
The Hill has reached out to Trump’s campaign for comment on the SFA Fund ad.
Trump and Haley are more than a week out from the first-in-the-South primary in South Carolina, Haley’s home state and the next major test in the Republican presidential nominating process.
Trump holds a significant lead there. The latest polling averages from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill put the former president up nearly 33 points in the state.
Haley’s now the last major candidate standing between Trump and the Republican nod.
