An initial post-mortem examination found that Michael Mosley died of natural causes, according to multiple reports.

The popular British television doctor, 67, was found dead on Sunday, June 9, after he disappeared in Greece earlier that week, his wife Clare confirmed in a statement previously obtained by PEOPLE.

Greek police spokeswoman Konstantia Dimoglidou told the BBC that the initial examination on his body found no injuries that would have caused his death.

A local public broadcaster also reported that foul play has been ruled out, per The Guardian.

However, his exact cause of death has yet to be determined. British newspaper The Times reported that the coroner was unable to make a determination due to the delay in finding his body during the extreme heat.

A toxicology and histology report have been ordered, although results are expected to take months, according to the BBC and The Guardian.

A representative with the Hellenic Police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

The search for Mosley was launched after the television presenter did not return from a midday walk on Wednesday, June 5. He was last seen when he set off hiking along St. Nicholas Beach at 1:30 p.m. local time.

Lefteris Papakalodoukas, the mayor of Symi — where Mosley went missing — said that his body was found lying face-up against a fence after appearing to have fallen down a steep slope, according to the Associated Press.

His wife, Dr. Clare Bailey, contacted authorities around 7:30 p.m.

An excessive heat warning was in effect for the island at the time of Mosley’s disappearance, according to The Telegraph. Greek police said his phone was left by the beach around the same time he disappeared.
